Champlain Housing Trust (CHT) is a national leader in housing. CHT manages and develops permanently affordable rental housing and homeownership programs in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties. CHT’s Homeownership Center (HOC) is a member of the national NeighborWorks® America network. CHT has a penchant for developing safe and affordable housing using innovative and exciting new approaches; many are duplicated around the world. Serving as the Home Education Program Coordinator, you will be on the cutting edge of CHT’s innovative spirit and be working directly with people in the community. In this position, you will help people understand and have access to housing opportunities. You will make a real difference in the lives of many people. The Champlain Housing Trust is a community land trust that supports the people of northwest Vermont and strengthens their communities through the development and stewardship of permanently affordable homes and related community assets. This position supports the Home Education team and works with potential renters and buyers as well as current homeowners. Position begins April 22, 2024 and ends August 30th, 2024 This position is: Reduced Half Time Requires 690 hours for an average of 40 hours per week. Member will receive a living allowance of $10,324 (pre-tax), a monthly housing allowance of $300, for a total living allowance of $11,824 for the term. Member will receive an education award of $2,626.27 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Other benefits include health insurance, federal school loan forbearance, & various training & networking opportunities.

Member Duties : • Learn the overall workings of CHT and the Homeownership Center to develop an understanding of various housing options • Assume the primary responsibility for triage and intake for clients seeking help with eviction prevention, delinquency foreclosure and access to community financial assistance programs called housing stabilization. • Help engage clients with special programs and services • Assist with facilitation of regular monthly workshops and special groups; coordinate event logistics • Present at workshops and orientations and facilitate special groups. • Provide support for workshops and counseling such as scheduling appointments, pulling credit reports, preparing files and informational materials, data entry and information management and reporting. • Assist CHT with the development, implementation and outreach for new initiatives for BIPOC homeownership.
