E3.20 Family Rise Together – Community Program Coordinator

Family Rise Together Minnesota (FRT) is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing families together by strengthening family unity and engaging fathers in their children’s lives to establish values, social roles and participation in the community. We are guided by the philosophy and teaching of self-determination, personal control, and improved financial management. We implement programming that supports the stability of families with fathers who have been incarcerated and are in the process of re-entry as well as fathers who are single-parent households in need of community resources. We assist with housing, job skills, and community involvement. Our programming encourages fathers to spend significant quality time with their children. We support families who otherwise face vicious cycles of recidivism, school dropouts, drug use, mental health crises, and/or the removal of children into protective service. We believe that as a community we must implement programs that will encourage the continuous involvement of fathers in the lives of their children and their communities. This VISTA member will engage in developing programs to strengthen family unity, build the internal capacity of Families Rise Together, evaluate organizational impact, and conduct strategic community outreach. We are looking for a VISTA who is a self-starter, motivated for local and national changes to address health-related aspects including mental health and chemical dependency illness, and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. This is a position perfect for someone interested in learning the ropes on how to start your own business or nonprofit organization. VISTA member will be part of the Eco3 VISTA cohort serving in northeastern Minnesota.
