E3.20 Energy and Sustainability VISTA, City of Duluth
 
 
 
This position will work to reduce the economic and health disparities faced by vulnerable populations by helping the City of Duluth Sustainability Officer to research, plan, and conduct engagement activities that help to identify and implement actions and policies that advance sustainability and more equitably serve Duluth residents and neighborhoods. Major efforts and supporting tasks include: Perform research and improve metrics around energy and sustainability by gathering data on potential projects, analyzing and improving metrics, and researching examples and lessons learned from other cities’ progress. o Assess need for program development and engagement o Research and identify policy updates to advance sustainability and equity o Assist with data analysis/improvements in energy metrics and reporting o Complete energy use analysis and greenhouse gas emission data collection o Develop priorities for sustainability and climate action work planning that reduce inequities, as identified in the Duluth Climate Vulnerability Assessment Program planning and delivery related to sustainability goals in the Imagine Duluth 2035 Comprehensive Plan by assisting with program development and delivery that support implementation of sustainability-related goals, including: o Plan and host energy-related programs and events o Attend and present at community events o Create partnerships to engage and support youth in energy and sustainability topics o Contribute to grant writing to engage residents and businesses on energy topics o Support planning and development of educational workshops to engage our community around green industries and work force development issues Engaging residents to help prioritize sustainability and climate action work plans by conducting engagement and outreach in Duluth. o Listen to community member feedback to develop sustainability and energy stories, progress, and challenges.
