Veterans Center Dvlpmt & Community Outreach VISTA, OneStar
The Veterans Center of North Texas serves 7 North Texas counties and offers services to 165,000 area Veterans. This all-Volunteer non-profit is located in Plano, TX and collaborates with nearly 200 service provider partners to offer referral and financial assistance in 12 critical areas. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with grantors, funders, and donors to enable the Veterans Center to provide the services and assistance to both underserved and struggling Veteran Communities. The successful candidate will work with a number of seasoned professionals who have solid track records in both the military and civilian communities. The Veterans Center is an all-Volunteer organization with Veterans and those with family members currently serving on active duty. Our Volunteers range in age from 16 to 83 and from ranks of Corporal to Lieutenant General. We work with Veterans of all eras and of all services to find referrals and financial assistance to alleviate crisis situations. We work to stabilize the Veteran's situation then work the action plan to prevent recidivism. In 2019, 49% of our case files had financial issues. The increase in financial issue case management files increased from 33% (2017) to 60% (2020). At Veterans Center of North Texas, we work to find living wage employment and affordable housing for our Veterans. The mission of the Veterans Center of North Texas is to assist North Texas Veterans and their families to integrate into their communities and maintain productive lifestyles. Support, assistance, and financial aid are provided through information and referral to all Veterans with the goal to identify benefits and services available through government and community-based organizations.

Member Duties : The Development & Community Outreach VISTA will analyze our grant funding program and our community outreach program. We want to expand our reach into the community through social media and other forms of communication and we want to maintain frequent contact with our grantors and donors. Our VISTA Member would be responsible for building on the programs and processes we have in place and expanding them to provide better services to our Veteran clients and our stakeholders. Social media presence and persistence are key to the VISTA position support.
