23-24 World Relief Economic Empowerment Specialist (Kent)

This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. World Relief Western Washington is the largest refugee resettlement agency in the region and has been serving refugees and other vulnerable immigrants since 1979. Refugees and immigrants bravely leave behind everything familiar to seek safety, a life free from fear, and the chance for a new start. At World Relief, we come alongside these new neighbors by providing support and care through their first months and years of transition. This support includes case management, orientation to American culture and systems, job placement assistance, English language classes, skills development classes, housing assistance, immigration legal services, advocacy, youth programming, mutually-transformative relationships with community volunteers, and more. World Relief Western Washington envisions every refugee and vulnerable immigrant welcomed by community, rooted in community, and empowered for community. Our work is informed by the belief that every refugee and vulnerable immigrant has an important place in our community. From the time of arrival to the first job to citizenship and beyond, the World Relief community is committed to serving and being served by this brave and resilient population. AmeriCorps members serving at World Relief Western Washington play valuable roles on our English, Economic Empowerment, Health & Wellness, Outreach, and Resiliency teams by enhancing our ability to provide robust and tailored services to our participants and to provide expanded support and training to our volunteers. This particular AmeriCorps member will serve alongside our Resiliency team as they empower participants to multiply their strengths and contribute to the community.
