TSC VISTA 2021: ConnectHome San Antonio
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA leaders.

Member Duties : The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) provides housing assistance to more than 65,000 children, adults, and seniors through its Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, and Mixed-Income Housing programs. SAHA’s ConnectHome program was launched in 2015, with the goal to deliver digital inclusion programs to strengthen households’ overall quality of life, educational attainment, and workforce outcomes. The program is aimed at narrowing the digital divide for families who live in HUD-assisted housing to help ensure that residents have access to technology, the skills to use the internet, and options for free-to-low cost broadband services. The VISTA will conduct outreach and build partnerships with agencies to provide digital literacy programs, as well as recruit and train community volunteers to teach digital literacy classes. The VISTA will assess training materials, research funding, and develop a framework to assist in the collection of data for program analysis and reporting.
