Baltimore CityCommunity Troop

More than camping and cookies, the new Girl Scouts offers girls and young women leadership opportunities of a lifetime. Strong social networks of peers and adult mentors, are brought together and supported through the Baltimore City Community Troop Initiative. VISTA’s will have the benefit of the legacy and goodwill of Girl Scouts, and can instantly build rapport and make a difference in someone’s life –sometimes in just one interaction. This opportunity at Girl Scouts requires a person skilled in: strategy and tactics, internet searches, converting data into information, problem-solving, networking, and project management. GSCM is concerned with relevant issues that impact a girl’s journey into adulthood. These include activities that increase a girl’s readiness for and opportunities to: be successful in school; aspire to pursue rewarding careers; maintain productive interpersonal relationships with a foundation of strong self-image; and respect and appreciate the outdoors/ecosystem and its resources. GSCM delivers on its mission through the provision of programs using experiential learning techniques in the national priority areas of STEM education/career aspirations, the outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship. The Community Troop Coordinator will help promote gender equity and provide access to girls who otherwise would not be exposed to high quality enrichment opportunities.
