Library VISTA Project VISTA Leader

The Kansas City Public Library's organizational mission is to serve as a doorway to knowledge for all. The aim of the Library VISTA Project reinforces this vision by building the Library’s capacity to serve and advocate for those in our city who are most often overlooked or just out of reach. The Library VISTA Project sites all work in some capacity to eliminate barriers of access to services and information. Through this endeavor, the Library VISTA Project aims to prepare its members for their next steps through network building, professional development, and skills acquisition. The Library VISTA Project VISTA Leader will implement systems to recruit, train, and retain VISTA members throughout the Kansas City metro. The VISTA Leader will join a team of Library staff working together to build community among VISTA members and to share the amazing work of VISTAs to the community. The VISTA Leader will be an integral part of this team as it adds new sites and new VISTA opportunities. Successful VISTA Leaders are passionate about national service; are well-organized; have strong community-building skills; and are willing to learn. VISTA Leaders must have completed a full term of full-time national service (AmeriCorps or Peace Corps) prior to their VISTA Leader service.
