The YWCA NWLA Poverty Reduction Initiative project affects low-income underserved people in Northwest Louisiana, including Caddo and Bossier Parish, Louisiana. This project focuses on eliminating poverty through literacy and education preparedness. Plant a Seed is an after-school program and community outreach program serving a low-income neighborhood in Bossier parish. Its mission is to uplift our communities from the ground up—one dream, one person at a time. We work to break the cycle of limited thinking by planting seeds of knowledge, hope, and self-belief. By investing in our youth and teaching them to be thoughtful, capable, and community-minded, we help grow future leaders who will carry the torch of positive change for generations to come. The purpose of Plant A Seed Foundation is to be a consistent, responsible, and uplifting presence in the lives of young people. We are committed to helping shape the next generation into individuals who lead with character, faith, and a deep sense of purpose. As a nonprofit, Christian-based organization, we believe in the power of planting seeds—of wisdom, faith, and opportunity—that will grow into strong roots and fruitful futures. Through mentorship, education, and outreach, we aim to provide youth with the tools they need to make informed decisions, develop a strong moral compass, and become productive, compassionate contributors to their communities. Guided by both practical life skills and biblical principles, we strive to motivate and empower youth to rise above limitations, embrace their full potential, and become lifelong agents of positive change in the world around them.
