Literacy Minnesota-Open Door Learning Centers (LitMN)

Literacy Minnesota works to build a more equitable society by making quality literacy education available to all. We are a comprehensive literacy resource, providing free classes for adults and children; supporting literacy organizations through volunteer recruitment, training and teaching tools; and creating new pathways for groups and individuals to reach their full potential. We operate six Open Door Learning Center sites in the Twin Cities, offering English, GED, computer, citizenship, job-readiness and other basic-skills classes for adults. This position will work with current and potential learners at potentially all six of our Open Door Learning Centers. The adult learners who are served by our Open Door learning Centers are culturally and linguistically diverse. The majority of our learners are Somali, Ethiopian, LatinX, and Karen. There is need to institute a system that captures student voices and feedback in a structured way. One of Literacy Minnesota's core values is the belief in “nimbly responding to a changing landscape, creating new pathways for groups and individuals to reach their full potential" through leadership opportunities. Seeking candidates who are highly collaborative, have experience working with diverse communities and have interest in community organizing/engagement. Literacy Minnesota will provide professional development in engaging with multicultural and linguistically diverse communities, strategic planning and development, training and facilitation, research and inquiry with a special focus on social justice and restorative practices. We foster an organizational culture that is welcoming and inclusive to all. *Additional benefits: phone reimbursement, bus cards, career training.
