SCI AmeriCorps is currently looking for members to fill Youth Leadership Coordinator positions for a 1700-hour service commitment between September 2020 and June 2021. Since 2007, SCI AmeriCorps members have served at various host sites, who are aligned with the mission of Social Capital Inc. The YLC will serve as leaders to a youth council, increase the capacity of host sites to implement social capital building, youth engagement and community service-learning as strategies to achieve high educational outcomes. When you join AmeriCorps, you’ll earn money towards past or future education, learn to be a leader, and gain real job skills. SCI AmeriCorps members build social capital in their communities through civic engagement opportunities, and gain valuable experience in the process.

Member Duties : HOST SITE OPPORTUNITY - South End Community Health Center The SCI AmeriCorps member will: Develop the Youth Leadership Council through empowerment by training participants in basic health-promoting activities, and helping youth to design their own health projects Build the leadership capabilities of older teens (ages 16-17) by creating opportunities for them to mentor younger teens (ages 12-15) through sports & exercise activities Plan workshops and events for older teens that engage local professionals to focus on college preparation and access, workforce readiness skills, and career development Support the Health Center's Pediatric Wellness programs, and assist with any additional projects that may be developed in response to an emerging need
