CCNYPA University of Pennsylvania Viet Lead VISTA

VietLead’s Health Futures Project Focus will impact the low-income Vietnamese and Southeast Asian community in Philadelphia by connecting economically disadvantaged, limited-English proficient (LEP) individuals to healthcare supports. This will fulfill the VISTA program’s anti-poverty goals in two ways. First, it will enable community members to receive preventative education and treatment/recovery services during the COVID-19 pandemic -- including outreach, workshops, patient navigation, and support for families during COVID-19 who are in isolation and quarantine. Second, VietLead’s Food Sovereignty program will fulfill the program’s anti-poverty goals for Food Security by working to alleviate hunger and increase access to nutritious food. The VISTA will support urban gardening and advocacy efforts that unite the Southeast Asian community in developing alternate healthy food sources and distribution to community members, in partnership with Furness High School.
