Duluth Public Library - School Readiness Outreach (LitMN)

Children can’t get themselves school-ready—they need adults to help them every step of the way. In this position you will join the Duluth Public Library’s “Every Child Ready Duluth” initiative and work alongside a coalition of organizations and individuals most dedicated to improving school readiness city-wide. You will help vulnerable and under-resourced families voice their school readiness challenges and help the library provide more equitable programs and services to meet their needs. This is an excellent opportunity to network with a variety of organizations invested in family success and gain experience building connections, assessing needs, and nurturing relationships between parents/caregivers and their community. The Duluth Public Library is an innovative, open-minded, dynamic place to work, dedicated to a lot more than just books! DPL has a rich history of community engagement, providing invaluable resources to those most in-need, and promoting a love of learning and discovery for all ages, but especially for Duluth’s youngest citizens. If you are a detail-oriented individual who loves meeting new people, organizing projects, working collaboratively and have a passion for community engagement, children, and families, this could be an amazing opportunity for you! *Position is part of the Literacy Leadership AmeriCorps VISTA program of Literacy Minnesota (LitMN), which places about 20 AmeriCorps VISTA members with nonprofits, public agencies and Tribal Nations located in Minnesota and Wisconsin to build their capacity to improve literacy for children, youth, adults or families. Literacy Minnesota fosters an organizational culture that is welcoming and inclusive to all. Applications reviewed on rolling basis until filled. Alternate start dates may be available.
