ASHF, Professional Development Coordinator

The VISTA will serve as part of an intra-agency team studying and refining A Safe Haven Foundation’s model. The project is intended to identify and systematize best practices and update agency policies and procedures to reflect the most recent evidence-based recommendations for substance use social service care provision. This will allow ASHF to effectively scale its services and better serve homeless individuals in Chicago — particularly those at high-risk for opioid addiction — ultimately helping them transition out of poverty by creating greater access to treatment and other services. The VISTA will work directly with the ASHF Director of Education to create opportunities for staff development, while also updating policies and procedures for the Education Department’s professional development wing. In supporting the Education Department, the VISTA will be increasing the agency’s ability to deliver services that decrease opioid use and dependency among residents. The VISTA will design policies and procedures that utilize the most recent, evidence based methods for strengthening staff capacity. These new, improved, and updated development opportunities and procedures will both improve program efficacy and service provision, while reducing negative outcomes for clients.
