SUM Associate, VISTA Horizons Student Enrichment Program STR

Horizons at St. Richard’s Episcopal School is a transformative 5-week, tuition-free summer program serving PreK - 8th grade children from under-resourced families in Indianapolis. Our students spend summers in small-groups learning from certified teachers, taking field trips, and learning to swim. Many children lose 2-3 months of learning during summer, known as “the opportunity gap” or “the summer slide”. Our mission is to close the summer learning gap for kids from under-resourced families through: • Intensive academic enrichment • A fun learning environment • Lifesaving swim lessons • Year-round support for families This is an opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about education equity. The ideal candidate should have some background of volunteer service and a desire to take on responsibilities that will challenge themselves and make an impact. This candidate should also have experience working with children and have strong communication skills. This is an AmeriCorps Summer Associate VISTA position. The individual will work directly with the Executive Director, teachers, students, parents, and community organizations.
