ShareCorps-SFC-Community Engagement and Fund Development
Summit Food Coalition's mission is to collectively build the framework for a just, sustainable, and vibrant local food system. We do this through four focus areas: Access: We provide support to organizations and people seeking to increase access to nutritious and local food in our communities. Advocacy: We advocate for policies that support access to nutritious local food, sustainable land use, and food as a means of economic development. Education: We educate partners, stakeholders, and community members on emerging issues, opportunities, and active local work. Entrepreneurship: We support local food entrepreneurs and encourage opportunities to aid in their success. Much of our work intersects with individuals facing food insecurity and connecting them with local farmers to increase access to nutritious foods while also supporting our local economy.

Member Duties : Summit Food Coalition's VISTA will develop and carry forward strategies to engage geographically, economically, and racially diverse community members and organizations in collaborating to identify local action items to shift the food system in a positive direction. Leveraging volunteers to engage communities to become members and actively participate in community conversations, the VISTA will provide critical support for members to engage with one another and identify shared challenges and goals. Additionally, the VISTA will facilitate an innovative produce delivery program connecting low-income families directly with local farms. Finally, the VISTA will research grant and other fundraising opportunities to support the organization's work and the actions identified by SFC's membership.
