Associate, VISTA Horizons Student Enrichment Program - EWS

The mission of Horizons at The Ethel Walker School (HEWS) is to help girls from under-served communities in Hartford, CT improve their educational outcomes. We do this by providing year-round academic and athletic instruction, cultural enrichment opportunities, mentoring, and educational guidance in a nurturing community of dedicated professionals and volunteers. Our programming uses a holistic approach, to encourage not only educational success but social and emotional wellbeing. We do this by embracing a nurturing environment full of learning opportunities that allows our students to feel confident and empowered. In doing so, we hope to promote their success and resilience on multiple levels. The VISTA will support the Lead Teacher in the classroom and or Development and Program Manager with daily program operations. The VISTA member will also be responsible for collecting and cataloguing stories, videos, photographs and testimonials to be used in marketing and communications throughout the year. Lastly, the VISTA associate will coordinate a project to coordinate the contributions of time and talent and acknowledge and thank donors, community partners and volunteers for their contributions to the summer program. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging leader with excellent communications and technical skills to develop a professional portfolio. The VISTA member will have the opportunity to receive targeted training and professional development to support success. Horizons at EWS provides a high-energy, fast-paced, feedback-driven, team-oriented work environment within a vibrant and supportive school community at The Ethel Walker School.
