Associate, VISTA Horizons Student Enrichment Program - HB
 
 
 
Horizons is a network of high quality, immersive, out-of-school-time academic and enrichment programs that support underserved youth through their academic careers, free of tuition. We foster a safe and encouraging space for students to discover the joy of learning, the skills for success, and the inspiration to realize and achieve their dreams. Horizons Bridgeport was formed in 2019. Bridgeport is currently served by Horizons programs at three host institutions. The ultimate goal of Horizons Bridgeport is to enroll 1,000+ Bridgeport children annually (an increase of nearly 250% from 2018 levels and ~5% of school age public school children). Horizons Bridgeport will open and fundraise for new sites, support capacity growth through expansion of existing sites, and enable additional collaboration and best-practice sharing. This opportunity is for motivated, committed individuals who are passionate about making a difference and receiving beyond entry-level responsibilities. The individual in this position will work with the Executive Director to support capacity building and growth for our Horizons affiliated programs. He/she will be included in a wide variety of meetings and have the opportunity to work with a board of directors and very experienced education professionals across our affiliate locations.

Member Duties : The VISTA will serve in a variety of ways. He/she will work on capacity building projects related to community relationships, best practice sharing, communications, grant writing, public relations, data analysis, social media, and content creation. Specific responsibilities to include: -Improve communications tools and promote Horizons Bridgeport through regular and social media channels. -Implement creative strategies for fiscal sustainability: grant research/writing/reporting, event planning and donor cultivation/stewardship -Research and analyze data to communicate program information to potential funders and community stakeholders. -Collaborate with affiliate site leaders to facilitate knowledge capture/transfer to implement best practices across sites. -Support the organization and planning of site tours by funders and other stakeholders.
