Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission is dedicated to minimizing the effects of poverty by connecting individuals to opportunities and resources that support a secure future. NOCAC envisions a culture that supports opportunities for all people to thrive; builds strong, resilient neighborhoods; and ensures a more equitable community. NOCAC is a locally controlled, private, non-profit organization that was incorporated in 1965. NOCAC is a primary source of direct support for over 5,000 low-income households in our six-county jurisdiction. NOCAC operates a homeless shelter/soup kitchen and facilitates a variety of community programs including Emergency Assistance, Publicly Funded Child Care, Head Start/Early Head Start, Homelessness Prevention, and Weatherization Assistance and Repair as well as the Financial Empowerment Program, now a Financial Opportunity Center (FOC).

Member Duties : The VISTA Communications and Engagement Specialist will be responsible for developing and coordinating a robust internal and external communications strategy focused on engaging agency staff, community partners, and persons eligible for Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC) programs and services. They will build capacity by planning, developing, and implementing policies and procedures to deliver cohesive communications across the organization. The VISTA will use their skills in marketing, communications, and creative community engagement to build multi-faceted relationships with neighborhoods, community groups, businesses, and agencies. These activities will be accomplished through a variety of avenues, including social media, special events, volunteerism, and programming. **Benefits include a $200 housing stipend to supplement living costs.**
