ShareCorps - Helping Hands - Media and Community Coordinator
Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center is a nonprofit, free clinic that provides medical care and social services to those who are uninsured or underserved. The mission of Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center is to be the caring hands of Jesus to provide medical care, health education, counseling, and social services to those with needs. In pursuit of this mission, the clinic offers reduced-price TB skin tests and free physical exams for those entering the workforce, free medical and social services, and free women's health services. The dynamic environment at the clinic is primarily composed of dedicated volunteer physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, students, and community members who support the clinic's cause. Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center serves a low-income patient population that faces not only barriers to healthcare, but also food, transportation, housing, and technology. Healthcare providers at the clinic recognize that in order to care for a patient's health, social determinants of health must be addressed. Thus, patients receive not only medical care, but also social services care to address any other needs they may face beyond medical needs.
