Stewards VISTA: Community Volunteer Ambassador - Northeast

The Stewards VISTA position is tasked with the creation of a region-wide structure through collaboration of internal and external stakeholders through 1) strengthening access to education and job skills based opportunities for youth and young adults, 2) the creation of industry standards in volunteer management tools, support, and resources, 3) identifying new and strengthening current partnerships as avenues to funding and resources development, 4) ensuring growth of initiatives within the region as identified by local communities, 5) serving as a regional leader for the Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) program, and 6) collaborating with the the Visitor Service and Community Engagement Division of NPS Region 1, located in Philadelphia, PA. These areas of focus ensure local communities and public lands are working towards the same goals, both rooted in providing economic opportunity for the next generation while also cultivating a legacy of excellence for all of the sites within NPS Region 1. VISTA, through collaborative efforts with staff and volunteers within the local parks, generates resources and support systems; and creates access and opportunity for those who otherwise may not have the chance. Job skills and educational programming, paths to professional employment, and overall community improvement through these programs will generate economic opportunity for all. Acting as a central point where capacity building and collective support can occur, the Stewards VISTA will utilize local CVA members to understand local community needs, regional actives and objectives, and all stakeholder goals to ensure resources are distributed and shared equitably and with greatest impact.
