Women in Transitions - Former Incarcerated Capacity Building
 
 
 
The Women in Transition Initiative is a collaboration between Benevolence Farm, Transplanting Traditions Community Farm, and AmeriCorps VISTA CNCS which focuses on employment and workforce development by using agricultural social enterprise programs as a tool for overcoming and preventing poverty. The initiative seeks to ensure that North Carolina women facing major transitions (refugees, immigrants, formerly incarcerated) gain the educational and professional skills needed to improve their economic situation. This opportunity and position will work directly with Benevolence Farm, a non-profit organization located in Alamance County of North Carolina. Benevolence seeks to cultivate leadership, promote sustainable livelihoods and reap structural change with individuals impacted by the criminal justice system in North Carolina.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA Social Enterprise Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Benevolence staff to grow their social enterprise which supports employment of formerly incarcerated women. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will work alongside the Farm Enterprise Manager and Executive Director to create and execute strategies to grow our Body Care and farming businesses. This position will help accomplish enterprise strategies and goals through assessing current strategies; researching new social enterprise strategies; refining business plans and goals; building and executing online marketing plans; and developing systems and tools to ensure effective management of new and existing microenterprise strategies. The primary duties of this position include the creation of a marketing plan, develop marketing materials, increasing brand awareness in the community and assessing efficiency and quality-control business improvements.
