Center for Vision Health Communications Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
The Center for Vision Health provides free or reduced cost routine and low vision healthcare to uninsured, under-insured and at-risk adults and children, who are low-income, working poor or homeless and cannot afford to take care of their eyes. Blindness and vision impairment are major public health problems and it has been estimated that at least half of all blindness can be prevented through timely diagnosis and treatment. Data show that more than half of adults do not seek eye care due to lack of awareness or costs. Of the roughly 4 million people residing in North Texas, over 900,000 individuals need vision correction but can’t afford to pay for basic eye care. You can help us change that with your communication skills. We have two vision clinics in Dallas County; one in North Dallas and a new clinic in South Dallas.

Member Duties : Member Duties: The VISTA Communications Coordinator (Year 3) will build capacity by leveraging communications efforts such as social media platforms, email, collateral, and website updating. Major activities include: •Developing a schedule of relevant communications across all platforms •Promoting the online low vision store and CVH website •Leveraging community resources to bring more patients to the two vision clinics •Creating social media campaigns to increase awareness of both vision clinics and to help raise funds. *For details about AmeriCorps VISTA healthcare benefits, please visit http://www.vistacampus.gov/healthcare
