ATEAM AmeriCorps Barren County Schools
 
 
 
Barren County Schools ATEAM AmeriCorps members tutor targeted remedial students grades kindergarten through 12th grade in reading and math using research-based curriculums. Members serve in the following school districts in Kentucky: Barren, Calloway, Carlisle Crittenden, Fulton, Garrard, Graves, McLean, Metcalfe, Pulaski, Taylor, and Webster; and in the following Independent school districts: Fulton, Glasgow, Mayfield, Owensboro and Somerset. The AmeriCorps member placed in elementary schools are responsible for targeted students to be reading at or above their grade level by the end of the academic year. At the end of the first program year, members placed in middle and high schools will be responsible for targeted students to be at or above grade level in tutored subjects. In addition, members at high schools will be responsible for targeted students graduating in time, and/or being prepared for college or the workforce. ATEAM members will leverage 400 volunteers who will be engaged in assisting students in tutoring and support of school-based and program service projects. The program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Education. Members will participate in BuddyLink. This is a mentoring program within the school to target foster children, children with parents incarcerated, and/or other students who do not have adequate mentoring at home.

Member Duties : ATEAM members will tutor and mentor students on a daily basis at a school in partnering districts. They will also plan volunteer opportunities for citizens and schools in each community. They will interact with students and staff on a daily basis.
