Healthy Living Specialist - Nashville

Catholic Charities of Tennessee (CCTN) provides comprehensive services that address basic needs while also helping clients build and travel their personal path out of poverty and trauma. Weaving trauma-informed practices throughout our staff and programming, CCTN services include basic needs assistance, counseling, homelessness prevention, refugee and immigration services, trauma groups, adoptions, and workforce development. Our newest department, Hunger Relief, is one of the vital, ongoing relief ministries of Catholic Charities. Our goal is to ensure that nobody goes hungry. It is quickly expanding past Davidson county to serve an additional five counties across Middle Tennessee with projections to serve another five in 2022. The programs within Hunger Relief include Loaves and Fishes, a feeding program operating out of the Parish Center of Holy Name Catholic Church, where Catholic Charities enlists volunteers to help serve hot meals for breakfast and lunch to our guests; additionally, we serve a hot lunch at St. Stephen’s Catholic Community once a week. Working closely with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, Catholic Charities provides Commodity Supplemental Food Boxes to our low-income Seniors two days a week. To meet the program expansion, Catholic Charities has created a program, Tennessee Serves Neighbors, to meet the needs of the community outside of Metropolitan Nashville. Hunger Relief will assist in providing food pantries to these communities while working closely with a variety of community members and parish centers to ensure everyone has access to healthy food. Our Healthy Living Specialist uses the Healthy for Life curriculum of the American Heart Association. As schedules permit, additional groups that could benefit from the work of the Healthy Living Specialist include our refugee elders and youth groups, our SNAP recipients, and other clients in our varied programs.
