Campus Compact of Oregon VISTA Members
 
 
 
VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at an educational institution, nonprofit organization, or public agency to create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Campus Compact of Oregon VISTA members are committed to developing equitable community-engaged programming that increases educational access and success for students from low-income backgrounds and communities of color. Using an equity lens, VISTA members build capacity for college campuses and organizations to increase access for educational resources, alleviate poverty based on community identified issue areas, and empower students to be change agents in their communities. Member Duties : In August 2019, the Campus Compact of Oregon program will place 16 VISTA members on Oregon campuses and at community organizations to develop programming to address K-12 and college access and success for low-income students; engage first-generation and low-income college students in critical, poverty reducing activities; provide leadership development, training, support, and reflection activities for volunteers; promote racial justice and educational equity; and build community partnerships. Campus Compact of Oregon VISTA Members must have a commitment to or willingness to learn about racial justice and equity.
