2021-2022 ACE at Siena - Racial Justice Committee Liaison

About 1.5 million people reside in the Capital District of New York State, mostly in the inner cities of Albany, Troy, and Schenectady. Annually, the Center for Academic Community Engagement at Siena College (ACE) selects 32 persons from around America to serve with community-based organizations (CBOs) that work to address socio-economic challenges in the Capital District; these challenges include: gaps in education, health care, the environment, housing, criminal justice, and economic development. VISTAs impact the CBO, and in turn the community, by coordinating volunteer-led projects, conducting research, writing grants, and facilitating outreach Based on your skills and interests you will be matched with a CBO for the year. CBOs we have partner with include: the Boys and Girls Club, Albany District Attorney’s Office, New York State Network for Youth Success, Schenectady Center for Juvenile Justice, Albany Leadership Charter High School for Girls, Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy, Food Pantries for the Capital District, and many others. You will be managed on-site by a supervisor, mentored by 3 VISTA Leaders, and trained by an experienced VISTA management team. You will attend a Pre-Service Orientation, an On-Site Orientation, and ongoing training. We are celebrating a decade of success and have had nearly 200 VISTAs complete the program. Our program functions more like a fellowship and provides high-impact professional development training that focuses on the enhancement of our VISTA Fellows’ overall growth to make the best of the service year experience. The Fellows bond as a cohort to support each other as they learn, grow, and serve. Join the Movement and see the world change…Become a Siena College AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow! NOTE: MUST HAVE AT LEAST ASSOCIATES DEGREE TO JOIN THIS PROGRAM. OUR VISTAs DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS AND ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE SIENA COLLEGE GRADS.
