Anti-Hunger Corps Summer Associates
 
 
 
The Hunger Free America Summer Associate Program aims to create more food secure families and support nutritious food choices. Summer Associate members will work on one or more of the following: -Provide education for and increase access to food security resources, including SNAP, WIC, and other local resources by conducting outreach to raise awareness about the benefits and assisting with enrolling clients in the programs. -Recruit volunteers to help with hunger relief programs -Provide nutrition info to sites and/or directly to clients -Conduct Farmers Markets outreach to increase awareness of markets that accept SNAP benefits and provide additional incentives to low-income customers -Help manage community gardens -COVID-19 response, which will include helping staff hunger hotlines, help collect data on food availability for hunger hotlines and web listings, help struggling families access food benefits via phone and by computer and/or smart phone.

Member Duties : Hunger Free America's Summer Associate Program aims to create more food secure families and support nutritious food choices. Activities include: researching, contacting, and partnering with community organizations in target neighborhoods for summer meals and other nutrition benefits (e.g. SNAP & WIC) outreach; contacting community stakeholders and emergency food providers to raise awareness of summer meals and other nutrition benefits; implementing summer meals social media outreach; creating nutrition benefits outreach materials; and recruiting volunteers, among other possible duties. The ideal candidate will be interested in child hunger issues, have experience working with diverse communities, be flexible and willing to work on all kinds of projects, able to work independently and as a member of a team, reliable, and have a good work ethic, organizational and communications skills.
