Virginia Housing Alliance - RRRC Development & Equity VISTA

Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 17 Host Sites, all that either work to expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. This listing is to fill the Host Site opening at The Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission (RRRC) located in Culpeper, VA. RRRC acts as the lead agency for the Foothills Housing Network (FHN), a Local Planning Group of the Balance of State Continuum of Care (CoC). RRRC plays a vital role in supporting housing and homeless response organizations while providing a concerted approach to regional cooperation and planning assistance with program delivery. By analyzing feedback from service providers, community members, and local leaders, RRRC has determined that the region is in need of at least one location in which individuals experiencing homelessness or a housing crisis may complete the Coordinated Entry (CE) intake in-person. RRRC is looking for an organized, driven individual to serve as the Training, Development, & Equity VISTA to help develop community partnerships, identify locations for in-person assessments, and seek methods for utilizing FHN data in decision-making and project management. The VISTA will focus on enhanced data collection and tracking of CoC projects focusing on disparities in referrals, services, and assistance among folks experiencing homelessness, and implementing Housing First best practices for FHN member organizations using a lens of racial equity. The VISTA will support FHN efforts to increase public knowledge regarding poverty and homelessness through strategic outreach efforts with a particular focus on racial equity, faith-based, and healthcare organizations.

Member Duties : The VISTA will enhance and improve data tracking and analysis for decision making within the Local Planning Group (LPG), design and implement a training for new FHN VHSP-grant member organizations and their employees in order to standardize data, and align data entry and coordination methods with the United States Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for CE. The VISTA will collaborate with the Continuum of Care (CoC) Coordinator to implement routine best practices training and educational workshops for FHN members, including racial equity and Housing First, and develop a formalized process to address racial, ethnic, and gender disparities in the community’s homeless services system. The VISTA will also aid in updating FHN’s website and social media with current information, cultivate partnerships with the local community for people experiencing homelessness, and develop tools and surveys for clients designed to identify service gaps and areas of improvements.
