2023 Summer Program: Food Bank of Eastern Michigan VISTA

The Summer Food Service Program, facilitated by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), aims to fill a nutritional gap by providing children with free, healthy meals during the summer months when school is not in session and when many children often face missing meals and lack of proper nutrition. Featuring an average of 13,000-15,000 pounds of supplemental food, the Mobile Food Pantry allows agencies the ability to target areas of great need, even though they may not be physically located in that area. Additionally, volunteers and teens participating in the Summer Youth Initiative sort food and assemble product at the Food Bank facility.
