College Admissions Made Possible

The first step BSI takes towards holistic education is building a culture of inclusive community and growth. During the early days of our program, rather than getting to instruction, we take time for everyone to start creating the foundations of the relationships that we will build upon all summer. Students have the opportunity to share about themselves and engage with the stories of others, as well as develop deep and meaningful bonds with the adults in the building, breaking down conceptions of hierarchy and authority. Building meaningful relationships not only allows students to feel more at ease in a new place, but it also empowers them to be vulnerable and breaks down barriers that get in the way of learning and personal development. This period is our prime opportunity to cultivate rich soil within which our students will sow their seeds. This summer will be the second time BSI has hosted a teaching fellowship program using AmeriCorps VISTAs. The Teaching Fellow program has become one of the most significant assets to BSI, perpetuating an inclusive community of learning at all levels. Last summer, we had ten Fellows that came from various backgrounds that took our community of learning to a whole new level. Over the last two years, students showed incredible academic growth, averaging 8 months of growth in math and 9 months in reading. Join our team and make a difference.
