ShareCorps - SWCI - Program Coordinator

SWCI's mission is to improve the quality of life and positively impact the Delaware community. We work on behalf of the residents, sharing resources and providing inter-generational services across the span of life. We provide services to the economically disadvantaged families that reside in the community. Our programs are aligned to meet the needs of Delaware County's particularly low income and high risk individuals to promote a higher quality of life for its citizens. We provide educational tutorial programs, STEAM, Health and Wellness, Community Gardens, and girls' Prim and Proper self-awareness and development program ages 6-16 along with a "Matter of Balance" classes for Seniors. We also focus on addressing food insecurities of the community served by SWCI. Components of the programs include; teaching children about healthy foods and nutrition through hands on experiences of growing fresh vegetables (community garden), providing annual mammograms for residents to teach cancer prevention, and fitness classes to aid in chronic disease and child/youth/adult obesity prevention.
