ShareCorps - COAD/RSVP - Resource Coordinator VISTA
COAD’s mission is to provide a unified voice for the 17-member Community Action Agencies of Appalachian Ohio and the constituents they serve, primarily low-income families, children, and older adults. The Senior Programs division consists of several programs. One program is the Foster Grandparent program, which mentors children with special needs. Our Senior Companion program helps vulnerable older and disabled adults remain independent at home with daily assistance. Finally, the RSVP program provides mentoring to youth and multiple food assistance programs and services to high need citizens.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will develop systems to create and enhance sustainable services provided by COAD/RSVP of the Ohio Valley, specifically working with the organization’s anti-hunger programs for children and low-income older adults in rural Jackson, Pike, and Ross counties in southeastern Ohio. The development of these services will lead to the creation of enduring programs that reduce the hurtful effects of generational poverty in the region. The VISTA member will work with projects for low-income youth to develop life skills, including health, wellness, and future planning, to thus empower them to move out of poverty and the risk of addiction. The VISTA will also improve processes for our summer feeding sites for low-income youth.
