City of Lakes AmeriCorps - Academic Coach

City of Lakes AmeriCorps members gain hands-on experience working directly with students, teachers, families, and fellow corps members. If you are interested in developing your professional and interpersonal skills while exploring the fields of education and youth development within the context of a large urban school system, City of Lakes is the program for you! City of Lakes AmeriCorps members serve in middle schools in the Minneapolis Public Schools district. Members are part of a teacher team providing academic support to a caseload of Long-Term English Learners in classrooms throughout the school day. Members also offer after school enrichment opportunities to students and maintain ongoing regular communications with students' families. Our ability to support the academic and developmental needs of our students depends upon the one-on-one relationships members build with their students and is at the heart of all that we do. Somali, Spanish and Hmong speakers are particularly desired. Please visit http://col.mpls.k12.mn.us to learn more!
