Weld County Youth Conservation Corps Service Crew Member
 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities: • Participate in a crew-based model • Embody a strong service ethic while encouraging teambuilding, self-worth, conflict resolution, effective communication, goal setting, and decision making • Communicate effectively with fellow corps members, crew leader, and program staff • Abide by WCYCC policies and procedures and maintain safety Ability To: • Serve in unpredictable weather and potentially harsh environmental conditions • Communicate effectively with fellow corps members and crew leader • Problem solve in a variety of settings and with a diverse group of people • Demonstrate sound judgment/risk management skills Qualifications: • MUST BE 16* - 30 YEARS OLD TO APPLY *If 16 years old, must be an out-of-school youth who has obtained High School Diploma or HSED • Willing to undergo and must pass required criminal history checks • Possess a valid state driver’s license or identification card • U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident • Received or on track to receive high school diploma or GED • Have reliable transportation to and from service base Physical Requirements: • Able to lift 50+ lbs. • Ability to use/handle picks, sledgehammers, rakes, and shovels • Ability to transverse uneven terrain • Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or to squat to perform tasks

Member Duties : Service crew members will serve side-by-side with their fellow crew members led by a crew leader. Primary service duties will include trail maintenance, planting and watering, noxious weed control, painting, and reducing waste in our outdoor spaces. Term of service will also include entry level experience for crew members, technical training, and development of personal and professional skills. Personal/professional development provides training certificates, career exploration, experience in a team-based environment, effective communication, and basic service ethic development.
 
Program Benefits : Training ,  Education award upon successful completion of service ,  Stipend ,  $2,000/month living stipend .

Permits attendance at school during off hours ,  Permits working at another job during off hours ,  Uniforms provided and required .
