Weld County Youth Conservation Corps Service Crew Leader
 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities: • Transporting crews to and from the project site • Provide guidance and leadership to a crew of 8-10 corps members • Accurately complete daily logs, time sheets, and incident reports • Embody a strong service ethic while encouraging teambuilding, self-worth, conflict resolution, effective communication, goal setting, and decision making • Coordinate logistics with Project Sponsors and WCYCC Supervisor • Abide by WCYCC policies and procedures and maintain safety Knowledge Of: • Conservation techniques, construction, landscaping, and tool maintenance preferred, but not required Ability To: • Serve in unpredictable weather and potentially harsh environmental conditions • Communicate effectively with fellow corps members, crew leader, program staff, and community members • Motivate and encourage young adults to serve and persevere in difficult and physically challenging settings Experience: • One year of experience working with youth in conservation efforts preferred, but not required • Managed conflict in a group setting • Previous experience in a team environment providing leadership and direct oversight • Experience supervising a diverse group of young adults Qualifications: • MUST BE 18 - 30 YEARS OLD TO APPLY • Willing to undergo and must pass required criminal history checks • Possess a valid driver license with insurable driving record required • Must be able to pass a drug screening • U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident • Received or on track to receive high school diploma or GED • Have reliable transportation to and from service base Physical Requirements: • Able to lift 50+ lbs. • Ability to use/handle picks, sledgehammers, rakes, and shovels • Ability to transverse uneven terrain • Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or to squat to perform tasks • Service term will require strenuous physical engagement, personal motivation, and perseverance

Member Duties : Crew Leader will begin training in May for the upcoming season. Starting on June 1st, Crew Leader will guide a group of 17 – 30 year old crew members on a daily basis in the participation of trail building and maintenance, planting and watering, noxious weed control, painting, and reducing waste in our outdoor spaces. Term of service will also include leadership development experience, technical training, and development of personal and professional skills. Personal/professional development provides training certificates, career exploration, experience in a team-based environment, effective communication, and basic service ethic development.
 
Program Benefits : $2,400/month living stipend ,  Training ,  Education award upon successful completion of service .
