City of Birmingham Mayor's Initative VISTA
 
 
 
Birmingham Mayor's Initiative VISTAs, recognizing the complex nature of poverty and its contributing factors, will address the infrastructure, health and economic growth of vulnerable demographics in the City of Birmingham. In spirit of empowerment, this program seeks to support veterans, educate youth, aid low income households, and resource individuals affected by the opioid crisis. Informed by the Mayor's strategic plan, the VISTA Program will forge partnerships with local agencies to create a network through which citizens experiencing various levels of hardship are redirected and set on path to betterment.

Member Duties : Members will research and provide needed educational and capacity-building opportunities to nonprofit partners, city departments and social service agencies to better serve low income communities. Members will also collaborate with assigned department to establish, reevaluate, strengthen and/or advance municipal initiatives, efforts and programing that affects vulnerable demographics in the City of Birmingham.
