M:STL Generate Health STL Marketing and Communications VISTA

Generate Health believes St. Louis can be a more thriving region if we improve the health and well-being of our community’s moms, babies and families. As a coalition, we unite the community to accelerate positive change for families and our region for generations to come. We do this by: Understanding our community’s needs – We help uncover the full picture of what impacts the health of moms and children to ensure efforts and investments in our region can have the greatest impact. We review local and national data, as well as listen to families and the community to understand the factors that contribute to family health. Educating service providers and community leaders – Working with our partners and members, we provide professional development, training and education courses to further one’s understanding and knowledge in the field of maternal and child health. Our seminars and trainings help service providers and regional planners better focus, align and plan their work related to moms and babies. Advocating for positive policy change – We advocate for improvements in community conditions and new policies to support families. We represent our membership of more than 300 organizations and 800 individuals to provide a strong collective voice for policy change at both the legislative and service provider levels in St. Louis. Our work has resulted in important policy changes that protect the health and well-being of moms, babies and families. Mobilizing the region around our most pressing maternal and child issues – We unite and mobilize the region to tackle our most complex maternal, child and family issues. We bring together the right resources to accelerate progress, including getting people to the table who don’t typically work together.

Member Duties : The Marketing and Communications VISTA member will build the capacity of Generate Health STL to engage partners and supporters by increasing visibility of the need and opportunities to invest in the 11,844 pregnant women and their infants enrolled in Medicaid in St. Louis. By developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies that increase awareness, the VISTA will help Generate Health eliminate disparities in infant mortality and maternal health. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, more people in St. Louis will be moved to take action and support initiatives that improve conditions in the community leading to poverty and increased risk for poor health outcomes.
