Youth Villages AmeriCorps
 
 
 
Since 2000, Youth Villages AmeriCorps members have served full-time (1,700 hours) at the Youth Villages-Inner Harbour Campus in Douglasville, GA, providing academic support and experiential activities to youth with emotional and behavioral issues. In addition to FT and HT positions the program also enrolls 2 members, who will serve a minimum of 300 hours, and 1 member that will serve a minimum of 100 hours, on the Youth Villages campus or at any participating nonprofit accepting volunteers before the end of the service term on August, 31, 2025 for a Segal Education Award. Program Design/Implementation a. Members will provide community-strengthening activities and direct service to nonprofits and community organizations, and support local school needs. b. Members will support the service site’s (e.g., Inner Harbour Campus or Hillside Inc.) mission through activities including, but not limited to, life skills and enrichment activities for students. c. Members will recruit individual and group volunteers for national days of service activities and service projects. Special Events: a. Members will serve in national service activities including, but not limited to: opening/closing ceremonies/celebrations, orientation, and training. b. Members will serve in national service projects, including, but not limited to, Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, Global Youth Service Day and AmeriCorps Week.

Member Duties : Youth Villages AmeriCorps members provide critical Career, Education and Future Life Success tutoring, service learning, afterschool and summer programming, and classroom assistance to children and adolescents at the Youth Villages Inner Harbour Campus, a residential treatment facility on 1,200-acres in Douglasville, GA. Additional opportunities for members include leading service learning, outdoor kitchen activities, community gardening, outdoor education initiatives, a variety of professional and member development trainings. Members collaborate with local nonprofits and organizations on weekly service projects and provide disaster relief assistance in the state of Georgia. Minimum-time members must complete 300+ hours during the term of service and can complete their service hours at Hillside Inc. in Atlanta.
