Longmont Creative District Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
To create an inclusive and thriving Longmont that provides opportunities for all. Working with the Longmont Downtown Development Authority (LDDA), the VISTA will coordinate implementation of community connectivity, outreach, promotion and activities to establish the organizational capacity of the Longmont Creative District, currently housed under the LDDA. The VISTA will work with other community organizations and collaborators to further the Longmont Creative District mission and goals by identifying and establishing opportunities, housing, and exhibition space for creatives. Longmont’s poverty rate surrounding Main Street is 11-24% (according to city-data.com). This VISTA position will build the LDDA’s capacity to address this inequality through long term arts, culture and downtown development projects and outreach. Longmont (population 92,858) is located on Colorado's beautiful front range, 35 miles from the state capital city of Denver and 15 miles from the city of Boulder. Under this specific program the VISTA member will receive a housing/rental subsidy of approximately 300 a month and will benefit from resources and expertise from the sponsoring organization, Downtown Colorado, Inc. Member Duties : The VISTA member will work on such objectives as creating community partnerships, identify fundraising opportunities, developing strategies of affordable housing and studio space for creatives. Events and community outreach that promote community pride and investment in the local economy are also large aspects of this project. VISTA will work to help lift community members out of poverty.
