NeighborWorks VISTA - Beyond Housing - Grants & Development

As part of a dynamic development team, this VISTA will help Beyond Housing raise money by engaging donors, writing grant proposals, and building fundraising capacity. Day-to-day, the VISTA will research funders, devise creative donor cultivation strategies, and write grant applications. Beyond Housing is a community development organization working in the St. Louis region. We focus on all the things communities need to thrive, from educational youth programs to building quality, affordable houses. Our work is place-based and community-centered--we're the place where urban design meets community mobilization and where housing meets social services. The ideal VISTA for this project is organized, good at planning, and a strong writer and communicator. They're keen to take on a project and see it through to completion. Most of all, we're looking for a critical thinker who's eager to learn and make a difference! We offer a chance to be part of a unique organization and community, as well as ongoing professional development and a five-day NeighborWorks conference (last year in Washington DC). St. Louis is an affordable city with lots of attractions and amenities, as well as a thriving nonprofit scene and lots of opportunities for networking and professional growth. In addition to the AmeriCorps application, we request a resume and cover letter. For more information, contact James at jowen@beyondhousing.org.

Identify prospective donors who may provide sustainable support for Beyond Housing’s programs, qualify those donors, and develop plans of approach for each funder. 3. Develop grant proposals to increase funding from foundation and corporate donors so that key programs become more sustainable.
