WNY AmeriCorps VISTA: Buffalo

The WNY AmeriCorps VISTA program seeks members to join an energetic team of full-time National Service volunteers. Through service, our members are dedicated to combating the extensive poverty that challenges Buffalo and Erie County. Buffalo is now the second poorest big city in the nation, and our members are needed as agents of change in its low-income communities. While serving at a program host-site, VISTA members build capacity and sustainability within host organizations through program development and implementation, fund development and stewardship, volunteer engagement and management, community outreach to clients and supporters, and targeted research to increase public knowledge. One organization, individual, and VISTA member at a time, WNY AmeriCorps VISTA is shaping a more solvent future for Buffalo and its citizens.

Member Duties : As part of the WNY AmeriCorps VISTA Program, this member will become part of a team dedicated to serving the greater Buffalo community and combating the poverty that is eroding our city. Buffalo is now the second poorest big city in the nation, and our members are needed as agents of change in our local communities. At multiple sites, our members serve to build the capacity of organizations within three impact areas: community revitalization and improvement, delivery of health services, and youth leadership development. Our members commit to a year of service in which they not only fight poverty but live it, not only lead the community but are a part of it, and not only change the world but are changed by it.
