Public & School Partnership - Utah Assistive Tech Program
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at the Utah Assistive Technology Program in the USU Center for Persons with Disabilities. The Utah Assistive Technology Program (UATP) is a federally funded program serving individuals with disabilities of all ages throughout the state of Utah. Their goal is to provide assistive technology devices and services as well as train university students, parents, children with disabilities and professional service providers about assistive technology. They coordinate their services with community organizations and others who provide independence-related supports to individuals with disabilities. The primary goal of this position is to increase outreach to Latino and Native American populations so they can learn about and access needed services.

Member Duties : Specific responsibilities of this position will be related to, but are not limited to: 1. Support and promote effective outreach to rural residents. a. Engage in community outreach to and build collaborations with minority communities and service providers. Area of focus is Latino and Native American rural communities. 2. Evaluate and coordinate support for AT-related activities in the UATP lab. a. Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support the AT-related activities in the lab. 3. Ensure sustainability of UATP by improving upon and maintaining UATP database and by sharing data findings with UATP stakeholders. *Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English preferred **Some in-state travel required (at no cost to candidate)
