ArtReach Program Fellow
 
 
 
ArtReach GW is dedicated to the idea that visual arts can help both individuals and the community discover creativity and open opportunities to various education and career pathways. As a part of George Washington University (GW)’s Honey W. Nashman Center of Civic Engagement and Public Service, ArtReach GW serves over 300 children and families a year by offering free, high-quality visual arts education through classes, exhibitions, and events to students and families. Through ArtReach GW, Wards 7 and 8 and surrounding areas and GW come together to create a community committed to learning through art. Based at THEARC in Ward 8, as one of 14 nonprofits focused on health, education, workforce development, and arts nonprofits to bring opportunities to residents East of the River. Ideal qualities for the ArtReach Program Fellow include: - A passion for working in an urban community education environment with youth families, schools, and community partners - Skills in networking and building with community organizations - An ability to work independently, take initiative, and create effective work plans - Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn from experience - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Experience in visual arts, volunteer management, program coordination and evaluation

Member Duties : The ArtReach Program Fellow will identify, assess needs to expand and enhance arts resources and partnerships for visual arts programming in DC’s East of the River communities, enhancing quality arts education. The AmeriCorps VISTA will help strengthen existing community partnerships to provide arts education, workforce development, portfolio-building, and art therapy. Additionally they will establish and support new programs that foster creativity and skill-building. Working with current and new partners, they’ll ensure effective program delivery, expand offerings to meet community priorities in Wards 7 and 8, and build sustainability for VISTA-initiated projects.
