The Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement (MAVA) VISTA program develops, expands, or improves volunteer programming that connects Minnesotans to the resources they need to move out of poverty. We have sites across Minneapolis, Saint Paul, the surrounding suburbs, and Greater Minnesota, in the areas of senior services, health, food security, early education, financial literacy, employment, & housing. MAVA is a nonprofit association for people who lead volunteers in Minnesota. We connect, educate, strengthen and advocate for volunteer engagement leaders and their organizations to positively impact communities. As the VISTA Leader you will receive your certification in volunteer leadership, learn about the evolving field of volunteer engagement, have opportunities to lead workshops and presentations, network with local and national leaders in the field, and contribute your creativity to a small, fun nonprofit. You will be a vital team member in our small non-profit team and will help us expand volunteer engagement while working to eliminate poverty. In exchange for your service you will receive $1,446.29/month, choice of a $6,345 education award or $3,000 end of service stipend, a $150 professional development stipend, and assistance with finding housing and winter clothing. MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE ONE FULL-TIME SERVICE TERM (VISTA, other AmeriCorps, or Peace Corps) TO APPLY. You will need to have completed one year as an AmeriCorps VISTA or Peace Corps. If you are an evacuated Peace Corps member, you may be able to serve as a VISTA leader with less than one year of service. Position will remain open until filled.
