Tremont West 2021 Summer Associate
 
 
 
The Summer Associate will work alongside community members and Tremont West staff to support the Tremont neighborhood’s community gardens and public spaces, Tremont Farmers Market, housing counseling and employment outreach and Arts in August event series. The Summer Associate will be responsible for the coordination of community garden and vacant land/public greenspace reuse projects as well as implementation of the Tremont Towpath Integration Plan. The Tremont Farmers Market serves over 1,000 people weekly. The Associate will assist the Market Manager with various tasks to ensure the market’s success including the promotion of using EBT and Produce Perks at the market. In addition, the Associate will work with program outreach around housing counseling and employment programs. This outreach will include some door-knocking and one-on-one conversations. The Associate will also assist with our Arts in August and Tremont Arts & Cultural Festival series which offers free dance and theatre performances as well as visual arts and community and children’s programming in Tremont’s Lincoln Park. The Associate will be responsible for the creation of an audience survey and distribution at the performances as well as social media marketing.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate will be responsible for the coordination of community garden and vacant land/public greenspace reuse projects, as well as preparing the community for the arrival of the Towpath Trail. The Associate will work to secure volunteers and assist the garden leaders with maintenance. The Associate will assist at the Tremont Farmers Market on Tuesday evenings. In addition, the Associate will work directly with our full-year Americorps VISTA member to assist with community outreach around housing counseling and employment access. The Associate will additionally assist with our Arts in August and Tremont Arts & Cultural Festival series, which offers free arts programming in Tremont’s Lincoln Park.
