United Way Worldwide Economic Mobility VISTA Leader

A year in service as the United Way Economic Mobility AmeriCorps VISTA Leader is filled with challenges, opportunity, and fulfillment for you and those you serve each day. You will create memories and develop relationships that last a lifetime. You will learn a lot about poverty and United Way’s efforts to inspire and engage people who seek to change lives and communities through service and philanthropy. You will also learn a lot about yourself as you create opportunities for people to organize, build coalitions and effect positive change. As a representative of United Way’s corporate headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, you will recruit, train, mentor, and celebrate the accomplishments of national service members and supervisors at United Ways across the country working to help individuals and families obtain employment and improve their financial education and management skills. The impact and benefit of this project in the community is far reaching and crucial during a time of historic crises. Thousands of individuals and families will get on more stable financial ground through job training, financial literacy classes, and more, despite the economic downturn exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic. You will help create stronger communities where everyone can succeed. Much like your previous national service experience, the impact on you will be transformational, with the opportunity to strengthen your confidence, leadership, and professional skills. As a member of United Way’s U.S. Network team, your contribution will extend far beyond the communities where VISTA members serve. You will be empowered to identify, cultivate and share the experiences and best practices on volunteer engagement and anti-poverty strategies among a global network and their corporate and community partners. Applicants must have completed a full term of full-time service in AmeriCorps VISTA, State & National, National Civilian Community Corps, or the Peace Corps.
