ShareCorps -CAC Belmont Co- Summer Food Associate

The Community Action Commission of Belmont County was established in May of 1965 as a result of President Lyndon B. Johnson's War On Poverty. Since that time we have provided programs to the residents of Belmont County which meet our mission of alleviating the causes and consequences of living in poverty. Each day brings challenges in areas such as employment, housing, education, health, nutrition, transportation, childcare, and income management. The Community Action Commission of Belmont County administers many federal, state and locally funded programs, targeted at alleviating the conditions of poverty in our county. Through the dedication and hard work of the staff members, volunteers and partnering agencies, the Agency strives to aid individuals and families in achieving the quality of life they desire. Children in three summer food sites throughout Belmont County will receive healthy lunches daily throughout the summer and they will show increased knowledge about good nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Children will set fitness goals and work with program staff to attain these goals for the summer. This program will impact the community by helping the youngest members to gain the knowledge they need to begin a lifetime of healthy eating choices.
