ShareCorps -Thea Bowman Center- Program Administrator
Thea Bowman Center provides food support that includes the weekly pantry and bag lunches to children/families, seniors and adults during this time of COVID-19 for over 175 residents. The Center also provide GED and computer literacy online learning at this time. Children programs summer and after school are mostly online at this time. Senior outreach is provided and includes food delivery to homes and phone outreach to seniors and people with disabilities. We also focus on grandparents with grandchildren in their homes due to COVID-19 and other issues. Children Program: Children after- school and summer program to provide a safe environment for working parents and children to learn social and academic development.

Member Duties : As our new VISTA member, you will be building the capacity and effectiveness of our new pantry space by bolstering operations, substantiating volunteer support, and initiating new projects to strategically meet community needs. In your role, you will assess the efficiency of our operational procedures and work with staff to create and implement a change plan. To sustain these changes, you will recruit and engage a diverse new team of volunteers, developing necessary training documents and orientations. You will engage in volunteer appreciation activities, thereby promoting long-term volunteer retention. Through the development of a pantry participant survey, you will also identify key needs in the community and organize special foodbank projects to better serve households and families.
