Tatanka Funds
 
 
 
Tatanka Funds is an emerging Native Community Development Financial Institution that provides technical assistance and loans to potential homeowners and startup/existing business owners. Our technical assistance consists of one-on-one consulting and group training/workshops on a variety of topics, i.e., credit, budgeting, business plan, financial projections, cash flow, marketing and home buyers education. We hold financial literacy and budgeting classes for Tribal programs. Being a non-profit we continually write grants and look for resources to fund our program. We need to identify and secure funding for our program overhead as well as capital for our loan fund. We are a new program and need help with capacity building. We partner with other Native CDFI's, foundations, state/federal programs and organizations to work together for our common goal of attaining economic development strategies. Our target market is the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in south central South Dakota. We have a great need for business development and home ownership.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will identify funding sources, write for grant opportunities and assist with grant compliance and reporting. This person will track our clients and classes using our OTIS software, and will develop training materials and maintain a training schedule. The VISTA member will conduct intake and schedule one-on-one consulting with the homeowners and business owners. They will also conduct outreach to the Tribe, Tribal programs, Tribal University and tribal members and work to develop partnerships with different Tribes, funding resources, programs and organizations.
